Tacoma General Hospital
The Rainier Pavilion is a six-story, $192 million project to expand the services offered to women, newborns and children at Tacoma General Hospital and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. The hospital’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit will offer comforting accommodations to the families of fragile newborns.
Kimberly Kent Art Brokerage helped the client clarify their vision and develop their art program, and was responsible for the selection, placement and installation of over 50 pieces crafted by local artists. The works are heavily influenced by Mt. Rainier and Wright Park, located across the street from the hospital. The impressive commissioned works include mixed media mosaics, large encaustic installations, triptychs of fused glass and large exterior sculpture. Each piece was chosen and crafted with the intention of helping to brighten the days and warm the hearts of the patients and their families.
